lucky to have her for the past 7 years!
a quick trip to D.C. - stayed with friends and took in the sights on top of a double deckerbus. It's difficult to describe patriotism - it's such a personal emotion but one that I'd like to believe the kids felt especially during our time there. While we were at Arlington National Cemetary we observed a funeral procession and were reminded of the cost of our freedom. Heartbreaking beauty is all I can conjure to describe it.
although this is my LEAST favorite holiday of the year I do love it when it finally comes. The excitement is infectious - they couldn't wait for today to come - all 3 got to wear their costumes to school.
Trick or treat?
Usually we count on K to be our even steven gal...the one to make concessions for the greater good. Lately she's been letting us in on her humor...when asked how Josie was, her reply: "Oh, she's good, as good as she can be in that strange, little world of hers."
And her computer time is pretty much myscene and webkinz. But then, I discovered this from a little session she had on picasa:
The season changes are my favorite times of year...my all time favorite is when all the trees burst in the Spring but a close second is autumn. Josie yells out in the car to look at a tree that has turned its leaves red early; Jake & Tim hunker down to watch football and Kayla is taking big bites out of Fall's famous fruit.
summers seem to slip by more and more quickly each year. some of our favorite memories are early morning skis, late afternoon suicide tubing, sneaking cookies...esp the trader joe's kind that were my favorite, friday night pasta dinners, martini nights, "who left their towel on the floor?!...not me, not me, not me...", pack's pina coladas, poker, spit and crazy eights, hanging out with family.
